The development of educational innovation has led to the increasing use of diverse learning media, one of which is the poster, functioning not only as a visual aid but also as a medium to encourage students’ active participation in speaking. This research aimed to investigate the implementation of poster in facilitating students’ speaking performance in procedure text learning and to explore the challenges encountered during the process. The study applied a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through classroom observations involving twenty-nine tenth-grade students of MA Darussalam to document teaching and learning practices and semi-structured interviews with one English teacher and six purposively chosen students, consisting of three high achievers and three low achievers, to capture varied perspectives. The findings indicated that poster were integrated into group activities in which students analyzed visual prompts, discussed ideas collaboratively, and presented orally. This implementation helped learners organize procedural steps, recall vocabulary, and improve confidence in oral expression, while also fostering peer interaction. Nevertheless, some challenges were identified, such as uneven student participation, restricted time for practice, and a tendency among certain learners to read directly from the poster rather than use it as a prompt for spontaneous speech. In conclusion, poster is considered effective media for promoting interactive and student-centered speaking activities. It is suggested that teachers employ them strategically while addressing potential obstacles and that further research include larger participant groups and combine poster with other communicative strategies to enrich perspectives on speaking skill development.
